you dont know that, you're just making an assumption. to try and justify your lack of effort for trying to make friends, probably. That example, well fuck that girl, that is not your problem at all. Like you, she probably made an assumption that you were not the girls friend and just idly standing by them silently, hence why you could come off as creepy.

I think that's a simple yet great idea, which people with social anxiety find hard to go through with; just talking with someone. I think there is no actual tension besides what you've created in your mind. At the very least, by speaking to them you've made their day more interesting, even if they turn out not to particularly like you for whatever (probably irrational) reason. good luck.
